Depending on the type of examination prescribed by your health care professional, you may be injected with a contrast agent. A list of these agents will be given to you when you make your appointment. If you think you may be allergic, please inform the technologist.
In order to accommodate you, please note that the total time of your visit may vary between 30 and 60 minutes, although the actual exam will only last between 10 and 25 minutes.
A medial order is required to perform this examination.

It is important to note that approximately 5% of people react to the contrast material. Should this occur, our technologists will be on hand to quickly address the symptoms. Symptoms may include the following:
- nausea
- breathing problems
- metallic or bitter taste in the mouth
- hot flashes
- facial swelling and itching
- in very rare cases, the contrast material could also cause a severe allergic reaction
