Mastoid CT scan

The CT scan of the internal auditory canal is an imaging test that produces images of the structure of the ear in the form of thin sub-millimeter slices.

Your health care provider may order a mastoid CT scan:

- to do a pre-cochlear implant assessment
- to diagnose a dehiscence of the superior semicircular canal
-to examine a cholesteatoma

Here is the procedure, we will ask you :

remove your jewelry and any metal object that could affect the quality of the images

lie down comfortably on a table and remain still. The table will slide into the CT machine

Hold your breath for a few seconds while the examination is performed. Please note that we will capture the images very quickly in order to reduce the radiation dose received.

In order to be able to organize your visit, you should know that the total duration of your visit can vary between 30 and 60 minutes, although the examination itself will only last between 10 and 25 minutes.

A medial order is required to perform this examination.
